Lets rewind back to 2022 when my youngest boy was 2 years old (i have 3 boys). Elliott didn't fit into the standard high street clothing and the styles were, well lets face it - not eye catching!

A few days later after the failed shopping trip, I went to visit my mother-in-law along with my husband. I was telling her how plain and simple the clothing were. Guess what she did? She sent Paul (my hubby) into the attic to get her old sewing machine! It was 50 years old! (I still have this as an ornament to this day).

I blew the dust off, cleaned it up and got to work. I practiced with leggings first, making adjustments as I needed. My first pair took me 4 hours!

The thrill of actually making something was a whole new feeling and I NEEDED more....

After lots of practice on old fabric, i went into our local town with my mother-in-law and Paul, and purchased £33's worth of fabric and thread (I still remember the fabric! it was a green Dino and rainbow diggers). I made 8 pairs of leggings and sold them for a little profit.

I kept the cycle going for 6 months, not spending a single penny - to help my dream grow.

Before long i had saved enough to buy a new machine and Elliott was looking bright and bold!

Lots of sleepless nights, research, long hours, dedication and determination, Mother Duck was building in my head. Now i had to put my plan into action.

Now lets fast-forward to today... (23/10/2024)

Mother Duck is my full time job around my family life, I own 4 machines, my own studio in my home, shelves full of beautiful exclusive fabric, an amazing team of reps and now I have a website too!

All your orders are handmade by me around family life. Cut, sewn, quality checked, packed and shipped. Paul will pack your orders when he can along side his daily life and is the other half to MD (plus he lifts all the heavy boxes!)

How did we come up with the name Mother Duck?

Me and my mum were sat on the sofa one night trying to think of something duck related (i just love ducks!). She turned to me and said "i wonder what a mother duck is called?". We both looked at each other and knew it just had to be!

Mother - My mother-in-law for inspiring me who sadly passed away before she got to see Mother Ducks growth.

Duck - A nick name I am called 'ducky'.

What an amazing journey this is been so far and it wouldn't have been possible without the full support from you guys and my family.

I know some of you are still here from when Mother Duck didn't even have a name! If your reading this - thankyou for believing in me. If your new here, a huge warm welcome and thankyou for taking the time to visit my handmade clothing brand.

Who knows where Mother Duck could be in 2 years time, hopefully still going strong with a full order book.

I can honestly say, I LOVE MY JOB and MD is my 4th baby.

If its nothing less then perfect, we wont send it out.
